Management Of GCB Bank Pays Courtesy Call On Vice-Chancellor

On January 23, 2023, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, received a delegation from the GCB Bank. The delegation which was led by the Executive Head of Retail Banking, Mr. John Adamah explained that the visit was to formally thank and appreciate the Vice-Chancellor for his support before, during and after the opening of the GCB bank branch on the Tamale Campus of the University. The visit was also to discuss issues of mutual benefit to UDS and the Bank. Mr. Adamah assured the Vice-Chancellor of the Bank’s unalloyed commitment to work with UDS to achieve its vision.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, welcomed the team and expressed his excitement at the opening of the branch. He urged the bank to introduced some innovative products and solutions for big institutions like UDS and its students. The Vice-Chancellor said he was looking forward to a more vibrant relationship between GCB Bank and UDS. He appealed to the Bank to help the University to construct a Gatehouse at the second entrance of the University’s Campus in Nyankpala. The representatives of the Bank asked the management of UDS to present a proposal to this effect.

Earlier, the GCB Bank PLC had held a ceremony to formally open a new branch at the University for Development Studies (UDS) Tamale Campus in Dungu. At the ceremony, the Tamale Zone Re-gional Manager of the GCB bank, Alhaji Mohammed Mipo, said the new UDS branch of the GCB Bank PLC is the 20th branch in the five regions of the North and 186th branch network. He assured UDS and its surrounding communities of the bank’s continuous commitment to ensure that they work together to bring development to the area.

The Executive Head, of Retail Banking, John Adamah assured UDS students and clients that their deposits will not be touched as the issue of government bonds being touched in recent times.

For his part, the Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS) Professor Seidu Al-Hassan, thanked the GCB Bank PLC for coming to the rescue of students and other clients within the UDS area by establishing a new branch on campus.

“You are opening this branch at the right time because the University has a student population of about 25,000 and a staff population of about 2,000 and we have established a new faculty in the School of Business and so very soon we are not just going to train academics but also entrepreneurs and the School of Business is coming to complement the role a key sector known as the Business Incubation Centre.”

He encouraged the GCB Bank PLC to ensure that they create policies and products that will fall within the students’ limit to help the growth of the bank.

The Northern Regional Minister, Shani Alhassan Shaibu, assured the GCB Bank PLC of the support of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), chiefs, and the good people of Tamale to ensure that the bank succeeds in the development of the North.
